In Vayakhel, Heaven descends on Mount Sinai and God shows Moses the design for His earthly abode. This Mishkan (Tabernacle) is the dwelling place of God, where Heaven literally meets earth. The assembling of the Tabernacle is a momentous and prophetic event, yet without an understanding of the restoration of the House of David, we could easily overlook that the Assembly is first a congregation of people, and more specifically, a physical person. There are five hinges matching to another five hinges, representing the physical hands and literally describing a human being walking on the earth.
?Then Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, And said to them, ?These are the words which the Lord has commanded you to do:?Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of rest to the Lord.? (Exodus 35: 1-2 NKJV)
Vayakhel does relate Moses? assembling of the Tabernacle, according to the pattern, however, the pattern is fulfilled only when God is seen building up our physical Tabernacle. The Lord is saying, allow Me to assemble the Temple and on the seventh day you shall celebrate.
The Temple constructed during the reign of King Solomon (1 Kings 7) used the pure gold of an elevation offering signifying that those who return to the Land of Israel will be the Lord?s assembling and His gathering. The freewill offering that comes before the Lord is called, ?the purest of gold.? God is not requiring us to bring pure gold to assemble the Temple but the offering is motivated solely out of our love for God.
Today, the fulfillment of the elevation offering is done by lifting up our brothers, encouraging them and showing them the greatness of our God while we are walking in the Torah. Just as we came without force to Jesus Christ at Calvary, the Messiah did not force us into the Torah. He is leading us and causing us by covenant to observe the Torah. This also is a freewill offering. You do not have to do the Torah, you get to. In doing so, you rise above the Torah ? that which was required, fulfilling what Yeshua spoke, ??Greater works shall you do than I did.?
In the Garden of Eden, Adam?s act of disobedience frustrated God?s purposes for man. God stationed two cherubim to guard the path to the Tree of Life. When Adam fell, he was driven out of the Garden, not because of his sin, but because God was preventing Adam from making a choice between the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (Flesh) and the Tree of Life (Torah).
Today, the Messiah leads us back to the Tree of Life. Isaiah 54 says that He would go into the nations as a Father and teach us the Torah by His Spirit. He is teaching a people that do not have to do the Torah ? they get to. ?It is finished!? Yeshua HaMashiach said, proclaiming His finished work at Calvary. In Him, the work is finished in our heart, mind, body, and soul. As skilled artisan craftsmen, with wisdom (Torah) and understanding (Messiah - Holy Spirit), we carry on His work to bring the Good News to the nations, revealing our great God - the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, to His people and assemble the fallen booth of David, the purest of gold of offering, the true Temple today.
