One thing we need today is to have a correct understanding of who God is.
Jesus / Yeshua is God.
Most believers will not dispute this. God is the creator. The new testament tells us that Jesus created all things.
Col 1:16 For by him (Christ, Messiah, Jesus) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Christians will tell you Jesus is divine, which means Jesus is God.
But whether they know it or not they will also put an asterisk after his name.
Jesus*
*God's son.
This diminishing of Jesus / Yeshua causes significant problems.
It causes a division, that is very dangerous.
We are all aware how children will work their parents against each other. If dad says no, they go to mom. Without telling mom they already asked dad and he said no, mom says ok. Then they go back to dad and say "it's okay with mom", so sometimes dad gives in.
This same mindset has been brought into and is prevalent in Christianity.
When Christians read that God said to do something or not do something, they think they can go to Jesus and be free from it.
When told what God says, the response sometimes is, "But Jesus is my friend. He doesn't make me do those things that God commanded, it doesn't matter at all that God said not to do something, Leviticus chapter 11 means nothing to me. Jesus makes it okay to do. He loves me."
But I thought Jesus was God. Not any more. Bring in the asterisk. Jesus is now God's son and he is freeing us from what God, the father, said.
This is how Christians think. It not only goes against scripture, it is blasphemy.
Christians do not even realize they are doing this. Because most everyone does it and it is accepted thought in Christian thinking.
Also, Jesus is not your friend. The disciples called him Master. He is the God of the Universe. King of Kings. Not your friend. You bow before him.
Every Christian is familiar with this. After all, it is a song.
Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Do you know who said that? Jesus did, in the old testament.
Isa 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
Isa 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
God may refer to others as His friends, but it doesn't work the other way around. He is your Master.
Abraham was a friend of God, not because he just believed, but because he acted on his faith.
Jesus called the disciples his friends. And the reason they were friends???
Joh 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
There is only one God. He cannot be divided. Old testament and Jesus agree 100%.
Deu 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Jesus goes further.
Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.
When Jesus opens his mouth, it is the Father talking.
Joh 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
Joh 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
Joh 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
People need to understand that Jesus Yeshua is God. Period. When he speaks it is God speaking. When God spoke in the old testament it was not a different God. God does not change.
It was Jesus then and Jesus now.
If you disagree with that then you have more than one God in your belief system.
Other typical response, "Yeah but when he gave those commandments, they were for the Jews." They were under the law. We are under grace.
Really? Where do these fairy tales come from and why do people believe them? Because they don't want to have to do anything.
The commandments were for the Jews. Wrong.
Actually, if one wants to be technical, The one commandment given to the Jews was by Jesus when He said,
Joh 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
He was surrounded by Jews and He was speaking exclusively to Jews when He spoke those words. Yet, the one commandment actually given to Jews is the one and only commandment that Christians believe is valid. But the other commandments not given to Jews at all are said to be for the Jews and not anyone else.
You can't make this folly up. But you can teach it from the pulpit each week. And it is believed hook, line, and sinker, by people that have no understanding.
It's not that the pastors are purposely telling lies to their congregations, they believe it too. This is what they are taught. We truly have the blind leading the blind.
One of the commandments had its beginnings during creation. The sabbath.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
The seventh day is known as the sabbath. And as God sanctified it, He wants his people to sanctify it also.
Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
This commandment was not given to Jews at all. This took place back in Exodus. The term Jew does not show up in the bible until 2nd Kings.
2Ki 16:5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.
2Ki 16:6 At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.
Israel allied with Syria and fought the Jews. If this does not click in your understanding, you will not understand God's plan. Israel--Jews, not the same thing.
Now the commandments in Exodus were given not to the Jews as so many believe, but to the children of Israel. The children of Israel, are children of the sons of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham. The children of Israel are also referred to as Israel. The Jews are limited to the Southern Kingdom of Judah. They were mostly the sons of Judah and Benjamin.
Israel, in essence, told God to take a hike and forsook his commandments, Judah kept the commandments. That is why they appear to be Jewish commandments. But they are not. They are God's commandments that he gave to all of the children of Israel.
So we can safely and correctly say that the commandments were given to Israel, by God. And since Jesus is God, the same yesterday, today and forever, we can with confidence say that Jesus/Yeshua gave the commandments to Israel.
Now for some hardcore new testament teaching. The blood of Jesus has done something for you.
Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Christians pleading the blood of Jesus. This blood of Jesus, instead of freeing them from the commandments of God, as they think, makes the commandments valid for them.
By the blood of Jesus we have been brought into Israel. Remember them? They are the only group of people on the earth that were given commandments by God.
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
To make it perfectly clear, the ordinances here is referring to Man Made Laws. Dogma. Not God's commandments.
The Pharisees heaped so many additional laws onto the people that they were in bondage from their religious leaders.
Now let's understand this.
If a person immigrates to America and then becomes a citizen, then they are now an American with all of the rights and responsibilities. So if a Gentile gets saved by the blood of Jesus, then they are brought into Israel and are now in fact Israel. So what ever God told Israel to do now includes them.
This gives greater meaning to this statement by Jesus.
Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: (Just the man made laws, dogma)
Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:
What is the least of the commandments. One could argue it is the sabbath. Pastors break it continually and teach their congregations to break it, saying it is no longer valid. A dangerous thing to do.
The kingdom of God is a big place. There is no end to its increase. There are great and small in the kingdom. Some will enter in and serve God. Others may clean toilets, or the equivalent.
Let's see who enters in and serves God/Jesus.
Eze 44:15 But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord GOD:
Sons of Zadok, are the Sons of Righteousness. God is pleased with this teaching. Those who teach these things will enter in and stand before the Lord God. Let's see what they do. Do pastors today do this?
Eze 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
Eze 44:24 And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; and they shall judge it according to my judgments: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine assemblies; and they shall hallow my sabbaths.
This is a list of what is not taught in church today by modern pastors.
Holy and profane. The profane is rampant in the churches.
Clean and unclean. I have never heard a pastor in a church address this subject. They don't think it is valid any more. They think everything is clean.
Keep God's laws and statutes. Are you kidding me? As I said before, They say those are no longer valid or for the Jews.
And the sabbaths. Not taught. If it is they teach Sunday is the new sabbath. Not one scripture to support that. But that does not stop them from teaching it.
Let's see. God sanctified the seventh day during creation. It went unchanged for over 4000 years. Now we are taught that 4000 years later some disciples, one time, met on the first day of the week to break bread.
Sorry God, We don't care if you sanctified the seventh day. One day the disciples met on a Sunday so we're changing what you established at creation. Really. That is enough? That is a valid reason to change the sabbath from the seventh day to the first? Have people lost their minds? Do they really down deep in their hearts believe this garbage being taught? What if they had a Tuesday night bible study. Would that now make Tuesday the Sabbath?
Or, I love this one. "Every day is the sabbath." Really? So you never work? You set apart every day. That kind of defeats the whole purpose of setting apart one day. You can't set them all apart. Again, they are all the same. The sabbath has been eliminated.
"But we are to cease from our works and enter God's rest every day." People do not even know what they are saying. They take verses that they have no understanding of and use them to try to support unsupportable doctrine.
God's rest and the seventh day are not the same thing.
Here we have the priests that do not hallow the sabbaths, do not discern clean from unclean, do not teach God's laws or statutes, do not differentiate holy from profane. The ones that break the least commandments and teach others so. Writing this I realized I am describing todays churches and pastors to a T.
Eze 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
Eze 44:10 And the Levites that are gone away far from me, when Israel went astray, which went astray away from me after their idols; they shall even bear their iniquity.
Eze 44:11 Yet they shall be ministers in my sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: they shall slay the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them.
Eze 44:12 Because they ministered unto them before their idols, and caused the house of Israel to fall into iniquity; therefore have I lifted up mine hand against them, saith the Lord GOD, and they shall bear their iniquity.
Eze 44:13 And they shall not come near unto me, to do the office of a priest unto me, nor to come near to any of my holy things, in the most holy place: but they shall bear their shame, and their abominations which they have committed.
Eze 44:14 But I will make them keepers of the charge of the house, for all the service thereof, and for all that shall be done therein.
In other words, clean toilets.
Christians, no doubt, love God.
They go to church, pay tithes, some sing in the choir, go to Sunday school, the list goes on.
The thing is, those are okay to do. But God actually informs us how to show him that we love him. This is not something vague, open to hours and hours of discussion or debate. It is really simple. So simple, many overlook it. And the one things God asks us to do in the old testament, He repeats in the New Testament. In case we forgot or something. We are not to do these things for salvation. But to reveal to God that we love him. The other things are nice, but they are not what he asks us to do.
Now that I have shown you that Jesus is God. And you are Israel. It is easy to understand.
God speaking: Exo 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
God speaking: Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
God speaking: Joh 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Look at that reward. "shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
There is no better reward in heaven or earth.
Isn't this a reward worth pursuing? and will manifest myself to him
